Joan Lowden (AKA the Basslady) minored in classical voice at California State University Long Beach, studied jazz voice at the Guildhall School of Music in London, and has been playing upright acoustic bass for over 20 years in jazz, Celtic, bluegrass, blues, Dixieland, Latin and Hawaiian bands. She runs the monthly Way DownEast Jazz Jams at the Old Sow Grill and plays a summer concert series with guest pianists at Phoenix Fine Wines in Eastport, Maine!

Robert Sanchez is currently the music teacher at Calais High School in Washington County; his jazz combo at Shead High School won second place in the small combo category at the National Jazz Festival in Philadelphia in 2023.  He subs in the Way Downeast Jazz Jam houseband.
